My Story – How Sew Donna Began
For many years, I worked as a self-employed curtain and blind maker, creating bespoke pieces to make houses feel like homes. Sewing has always been second nature to me — a craft passed down and nurtured with love.
Around Ten years ago, I made my very first memory bear. A family had entrusted me with a precious piece of clothing, something that held so many memories, and asked me to turn it into something they could hold close again. The moment I handed over that finished bear and saw the emotion it brought — the comfort, the smiles, even the tears — I knew I had found something truly special.
From there, Sew Donna grew naturally. Word of mouth spread, more families reached out, and I began creating memory bears, cats, dogs, cushions, and keepsakes, each one as unique as the clothing it was made from. Every stitch carries a story, and I feel honoured to help keep those memories alive in such a tangible, comforting way.
Today, I pour the same care and attention into every piece as I did with my very first memory bear. What started as one special request has become my heartfelt business — creating keepsakes that bring love, comfort, and treasured memories back into people’s arms.
